National Alopecia Areata Foundation

National Alopecia Areata Foundation

Alopecia areata is a common autoimmune skin disease resulting in the loss of hair on the scalp and elsewhere on the body. It usually starts with one or more small, round, smooth patches on the scalp and can progress to total scalp hair loss (alopecia totalis) or complete body hair loss (alopecia universalis). Alopecia areata affects approximately two percent of the population overall, including more than 6.5 million people in the United States alone. This common skin disease is highly unpredictable and cyclical. Hair can grow back in or fall out again at any time, and the disease course is different for each person.

Our History: Looking back over the past 30 years, Wigs for Kids founder Jeffrey Paul cannot believe his incredible journey.

He was a successful hairdresser with a thriving business. He traveled all over the world to work with powerful presidents and gorgeous models. But one day, his 15-year-old niece walked into his salon, crying. She tearfully begged him to stop her hair from falling out. His immediate thoughts were that it was not serious. But when he saw the look in her father's eyes, he knew it was something more. It turned out that she had just been diagnosed with leukemia. "Uncle Jeff, you know I've been trying to get on the gymnastics team all my life," she cried. "My hair is going to be falling out when it's time to try out."

Please feel free to share your story, I know it will help a lot of other women. If you’ve found something that has helped your hair loss, please share your regimen. If you’ve tried everything and nothing works, you can talk about that. Or perhaps, if you had had success with drug treatments in the past and had halted your hair loss for years, and then all at once if came back as though you weren’t treating it at all, you can come sit on my side of the bench, because that is where I am currently sitting. Would love to hear from you.I’ve been dealing with this long enough to have acquired a fair amount of knowledge on the subject, so I will do my best to answer any questions you may have. I’m not a doctor and cannot give you medical advice, but I probably have an opinion on whatever your question is and will do my best to point you in the right direction. - See more at: http://www.womenshairlossproject.com/contact/#sthash.AL7wyuJF.dpuf

Womens Center For Hair Loss

Recognizing that there are only so many procedures he can perform without compromising care, Dr. Epstein, as Founder and Director of the Foundation for Hair Restoration, decided to bring the work of the Foundation For Hair Restoration to more patients by extending its affiliation to a few select surgeons from around the U.S. Each one of these surgeons are, like Dr. Epstein, board certified in facial plastic surgery and/or hair restoration surgery, and share the same aesthetic skills and commitment to perfection as he. In addition, each surgeon brings his or her own particular areas of interest, giving patients the choice by whom they wish to be treated. The first of these surgeons to affiliate with Dr. Epstein is of Boca Raton. In addition to impressive practice histories in hair restoration and aesthetic surgery, his skills in hair transplantation, as well as his decision making, have been refined by spending time working with Dr. Epstein.

Together, in association with its surgeons, the Foundation for Hair Restoration will be able to consistently provide patients from throughout the US, as well as the world, the very highest level of care. As a patient, you are always able to decide by whom you wish to be treated, and our office will guide you to your doctor of choice. The result: you can be confident that your doctor will provide the same exceptional level of care and expertise that has been provided by The Foundation for Hair Restoration over the past 15 years through the work of Dr. Epstein himself.
